Students learn the characteristics of participatory design as an interdisciplinary practice which integrates visual arts, computer science, critical and media theory. They learn about the design in terms of a software- based production. They study the concept of participatory culture, i.e. the development of a mutually created model. The emphasis is put on the products which are structured as multimedia and have a temporal form. These products are deterimed by the way of use, i.e. by the simultanious and creative participation of several users. The students perceive participatory design in the function of democratising the media culture.
