Students learn the standards of design of visual communications in a public space. They study the ways of designing and setting up a system of signs which informs and directs the users in specific-purpose areas, such as theatres, schools, concert halls, museums, galleries, sports halls, stations, parks, shops, etc. They are especially trained to criticise the state of visual communications design in public institutions. Through practical classes they design the systems of signs for spatial orientation and directions.
